We are looking for a candidate who meets the following requirements:

  • PhD or MSc in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or applied physics
  • Sound interest in materials science and functional devices
  • Strong experimental background and experience in (polymer) materials science
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Independent working style, and the ability to work in a team

Please find below an example of one of the vacacies:

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry (ST) is one of the nine departments of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). It was established in 1957. The department has approximately 390 employees (360 fte), 13 full professors, 370 undergraduate students (bachelor and master students) and about 170 graduate students (140 Ph.D. and 30 design engineers).

The department aspires to be an academic institution for education and research in chemical science and engineering that meets the highest international standards. The aim is to generate and to develop technology and scientific knowledge relevant for the long-term needs of society. Scientific curiosity and the use of newly generated knowledge are the main driving forces for the continuing enhancements of the three chosen fields of expertise: molecular, materials, and process engineering.

Background

The research of the group focuses on structure-property relationships in advanced polymer systems and devices including LCD’s, solar energy, membranes and biosensors. Research projects are carried out focusing on the structuring of polymer via top down (lithography, holography, printing) and bottom up (self organization) approaches in organic matter. Several positions are available in both solar energy and sensors. In both cases, these positions are dedicated to structured thin films based or liquid crystalline monomers and polymers which perform specific optical functionalities to enhance the performance of the devices. The projects include the whole chain of knowledge (synthesis, processing, properties, applications) and the projects are performed in a close collaboration with industrial partners.

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following requirements:

  • PhD in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or applied physics
  • Sound interest in materials science and functional devices
  • Strong experimental background and experience in (polymer) materials science
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Independent working style, and the ability to work in a team

We offer a full-time contract for two years, with an intermediate evaluation after 1 year. You will start with a gross salary of € 2740 in the first year and € 2852 in the second year.
